YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation – First Impression

YSL just revamped the formula of it’s Touche Éclat Le Teint foundation. The old formula was the Holy grail of foundation for a lot of people, and I wanted to give the new formula a try.

First of all, the shade range on YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint is amazing, lots of tones and under tones to choose from. I got the shade 30 warm, which is perfect for my current skin tone.

DSC03651-2The packaging is great like in all YSL’s products. I love the glass bottle and the pump! Don’t you just love foundations that come with a pump? I freakin’ do! It just makes it so much easier to use. The bottle has some weight to it, so it might not be the most practical thing to travel with…

Now let’s talk about the actual foundation, it is what you came for after all. The foundation is pretty high coverage, a little higher than I prefer frankly. It’s definitely medium/full coverage and more on the full coverage side of the equation. Two small pumps are enough to cover my whole face, and I have a pretty big face too!

I like the fact that it’s rated SPF 20, even though I always wear UV protection under my makeup regardless.

I was expecting the foundation to give me a dewy/radiant look after all it’s called Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation, but instead it has a matte finish. No radiance, no luminosity. I had to layer more highlighter than usual to get the dewy look that I wanted.

In the product description on Sephora’s website, it claims to have an anti-fatigue formula that instantly improves the brightness of your skin. Hmmm… I’ve seen none of that…

Also, because it has a fuller coverage foundation it feels heavy on my skin, even though it claims to have a weightless finish. My faced felt weighed down when I wore it and it just made my pores feel clogged (no room to breathe). Unlike other foundations I’ve tried, this one made me feel like I’m “wearing” foundation, you know what I mean? It also didn’t quite feel so seamless on the skin and it kinda made my skin feel dry (let me remind you that I have oily-ish skin).

Overall my skin was unhappy with this foundation. For $58 a bottle YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening foundation was a disappointment (a Bummer Of The Week level disappointment). It’s matte, doesn’t make you look radiant and feels really heavy on the skin.

I know that every skin responds differently to products, do did you try it and like it? What’s your favorite high end natural looking foundation? I’m in the market for one. Let me know !
