When your skin is feeling & looking good, you don’t need to smother it in a ton of foundation. A thin layer of BB, CC or tinted moisturizer to even the tone should be enough. For the last few months, I have been using the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizing gel and I’ve been loving it. My tube just finished and I wanted to try something new.
I received a sample of the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua about a month ago and was amazed by it. I’m not a fan of thick makeup in general, which made the Vitalumiere Aqua a perfect match for me. The water-like formula, makes it easy to apply and creates a skin like texture. It’s light and soft, and gives you a beautiful natural looking finish.
You have to shake the bottle first thoroughly before applying it, either with your fingers (as recommended) or with your usual foundation brush or beauty sponge.
Once applied, the Vitalumière Aqua feels like a part of your skin. It gives you that “your skin but better” look. It hides the small imperfections, smoothes the skin and evens out your tone, without making it look cakey. You can layer it for extra coverage, but keep in mind no matter how much you layer, you won’t get an extreme high coverage. It’s not intended for that.
It has an SPF 15 which is nice, but I always wear sunscreen under my makeup anyways. The shade range has tones and undertones which is good. I use the shade 30 Beige and it suits me perfectly. Frankly though, I don’t comprehend how make up companies, that should cater to everyone, don’t have the same options for darker skin tones…
The Vitalumière Aqua gives you a fresh, natural and radiant finish. I wouldn’t call it dewy, but it’s definitely not matte. Your skin will look young, healthy and luminous! I like how it feels extremely light on the skin. Your pores won’t feel clogged like many foundations tend to do.
If you like high coverage foundations than this one is definitely not for you. But, if you like to enhance the your skin’s appearance without looking like you’re wearing makeup, then the Vitalumière Aqua from Chanel is just for you. Since it has a water like consistency, a little goes a long way, which justifies the price tag. A bottle of Chanel Vitalumière Aqua is $48, and some might find it expensive, but compared to other high end foundation it’s quite reasonable.
Do you wear low, medium or high coverage foundation? What’s your favorite?
