For those who haven’t been to Los Angeles yet, you’ve been missing out. L.A. has it’s own charm and characteristics. It’s not the most well maintained city in the world, the roads suck and the traffic is ever-present, but it’s undoubtly a fun city!
R & I have friends there so we drive down from San Francisco quite frequently to see them. What I like most about L.A. is that there’s always a new place to discover and new things to do. For example, we’ve been wanting to visit the La Brea tar pits for a while and this time we got the chance to go. It was really interesting to see all the fossils from the ice age and learn more about earth’s history.Food is always great in Los Angeles. If you ever find your self in the Venice area you should pop up to Salt & Straw for a scoop or two of delicious gourmet ice cream. I like to consider myself an ice cream connoisseur, and this place is definitely in the top 3 best ice creams I’ve ever had! The Wildflower honey with ricotta walnut lace cookies was such a complex and delicious flavor, too bad it’s only limited to the month of May.
As our friends live in Venice, we always end up on the boardwalk at least once each trip. We love having lunch in one of the restaurants, then walk down the beach and spend our afternoon laying in the sun, our bodies buried in sand, laughing the day away.
Sunsets are pretty magical in Venice, especially when you are watching them from the beach. The sky turns a fire-red on one end and shifts to deep purple on the other, leaving the middle a medley of orange, pink & blue. It’s absolutely breathtaking!
Venice has a unique charm to it, especially the board walk. It’s like no other boardwalk in LA, filled with hippies, vendors and entertainers, you will surely have no dull moments.
If you haven’t been to Los Angeles before, make sure to add it on your travel list!
