This memorial weekend R & I headed up to California’s wine country, Sonoma, for the weekend. Sonoma and Napa are the two biggest wine regions in California. Every few months, we drive up to enjoy some quality time surrounded by beautiful scenery… and wine! I’ve documented our adventures there before here, but this time I wanted to share something different. After some trial & error, I’ve finally found the best attire for wine tasting and so has R, and we wanted to share them with you!
Staring with the gentleman…
As Sonoma is much warmer than the city and you will be walking in the sun most of the time, you should always wear something light. Bermuda shorts, light cotton T-shirts, polos or button up shirts should be your go to pieces. Keep the colors light and the material breathable during hotter days. As for the fit, find something that you’re comfortable in.
Bermuda shorts are very fashionable for men. In Napa, almost everyone is wearing them. They’re sophisticated and perfect for the warm climate. These light grey shorts are one of my favorites. The tiny polka dots on them are extremely subtle but add a nice touch to rather simple shorts. To look casually smart in bermudas, you have to make sure they’re the right length and fit, too short & tight are a bit off putting, while too long & baggy will lose the “smart” impact. Knee length or just above is the perfect length.
R styled his bermudas with a not your average white cotton shirt. The stripes and arrows makes the tee a tad more fashionable and on trend. The horizontal stripes are great for men, as they make the shoulders and chest area look broader. Even the least fashionable man can pull out an easy look like this!
For the ladies…
Dresses are always my number one choice for wine tasting and vineyard touring. Whether mini, midi or maxi, they’re always great idea! They help you move freely and are the fastest thing to throw on. I’ve notice that when the weather gets warmer I tend to wear dresses more than anything else. Also, make sure the material is light and breathable so you don’t get overheated.
I bought this Ann Taylor strapless maxi a while back. I absolutely love the unusual pattern and the color combination. Also, I can’t even start to describe how happy I am that it’s the perfect length. Usually, I have to shorten every maxi I get, even those from the petite section! This one was the perfect length and shape. It’s tight on the chest area and then drapes down to ankle level beautifully without being too baggy.
Because it was so sunny this weekend, a straw hat came in handy! Not only did it bring the whole outfit together, but it also did a great job protecting me from the harsh sun!
These outfits are great for any summer day in my opinion, not just wine tasting. R already bought himself a few bermudas and cotton tees for the warmer weather. As for me, I’m sure you’ve been noticing how much I’ve been loving dresses lately.
What’s are your go to outfits when your on a holiday?
