While we were in Sonoma last weekend, we had dinner at our favorite restaurant; Oso by genius chef David Bush. With a seasonal menu, delicious ingredients and the perfect twist on every dish, it’s one of those restaurants that will keep surprising you. Oso definitely needs it’s own dedicated post, but not today. Today it’s about what I wore that night.
Sonoma is much warmer than the city (San Francisco), especially at night. That means you can easily get away with bare legs after sunset. High wasted bottoms are making a huge comeback this season. Mom jeans are the latest fashion trend. At first I didn’t think these shorts would look good on me, but once I tried them on I immediately knew why everyone is so obsessed with the high waist trend. They instantly make your legs look way longer than they actually are! Being a shorty, I loved the “legs for days” effect these shorts gave me. Paired with a neutral heel, the effect is intensified even more… Can I get an Amen?!
As for the top, I wanted something a little less casual but not too formal at the same time. This off shoulder flower print top added that dressy feel to the outfit, while balancing the denim shorts. If you struggle with off the shoulder tops, opt for something that has a little strap like this one does. It will help keep your top in place, instead of pulling it up every few minutes.
The flower pattern is absolutely gorgeous and almost a tad abstract, which I like. The high contrast yellow and purple make this top the center of attention of any outfit. The material is so light and airy making it perfect for a hot spring/summer evening. The sleeves end in ruffles, which add beautiful movement without being overwhelming.
This Issey Miyaki Bao Bao bag, that R got me from Japan, was almost the exact same color as the flower pattern. It helped tie the outfit together, as I don’t think any other color would’ve worked with this look! I usually don’t like matching colors, but with an outfit like this, it was really needed.
I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the warm weather. I’m writing this post while in a pair of shorts, sipping on my iced coffee and enjoying the beautiful blue skies. This weekend R & I are escaping for a little getaway in Tahoe, where we’ve never been and we’re both excited for some outdoor activities… More about that next week on the blog!
I hope everyone is having an amazing start of June and I wish you all a great week end!
Any fun plans for this week end? Let me know what you’re up to.
