Bandana Choker

One of my favorite trends that’s coming back in major way this season is the choker! We all remember the 90’s with those horrible black stretchy necklaces that were on almost every neck… Thankfully, this season, chokers are a little more sophisticated. Although I love a traditional metal choke, my favorite has to be the bandana choker.IMG_0856

One of my favorite ways to style a rather simple outfit is with a bandana as a choker! I recently bought a couple of Levi’s bandanas, one in red and one in navy bleu, and I’ve been loving mixing them with my outfits. I just roll them diagonally and tie them around my neck, and BAM! A rather dull outfit becomes a little more sassy instantly!

You can use any scarf, not just bandanas. Think of a beautiful multi color scarf with a sundress… How gorgeous would that be? A scarf choker can be dressed up or down depending on its fabric. Think silk or lace for dressed up, cotton or linen for dressed down.

I love tying my hair up when wearing a bandana choker to really make it visible, especially with off the shoulder tops. It’s the center of the outfit and I wanna show it!

They work particularly well with off the shoulder tops. It helps balance the upper part of your body and making it you look less “naked”. But that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them with a tank top, a tee or even a button up blouse! Believe me, they look fab with them all!

To mix things up a bit, you can either tie the bandana choker in front, to the side or even backwards. The front tie will give you more of a sailor vibe, the sides an “à la parisienne” feel and the back the ultimate badass cowgirl look.

Are you a fan of the bandana choker? Or do you prefer a more traditional necklace? Let me know!

Shop the looks:

Levi’s bandanas, Zara off the shoulder top similar, Calvin Klein grey skinny jeans, H&M sandals, H&M grey T similar, Topshop white jeans, Nike Roshe One white, Lulu’s clutch.

Tamara

What a clever idea to use a bandanna as a choker! I’ve seen the neck scarf look, but really like how you styled it here!

I haven’t tried this trend yet! I have a short neck and I am self-conscious about trends like this because I feel like they draw attention to my flaws.

I do love bandana chokers, actually. I picked up two over at Madewell recently that I really need to remember to incorporate into my outfits. Thanks for reminding me.

I had those stretchy chokers which I wore constantly back in 90s and now when I think about it, I wouldn’t wear it now! I haven’t worn bandana chokers for a long time, I might give it a try to see if I still like it.

I love the looks you’ve created styling your bandanas, you look beautiful as always! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

I was in elementary/middle school when black tattoo chokers were trendy! I never owned one, but tbh, I thought they were really cool and wanted one, but I didn’t know where to find them 😛 I still have a soft spot in my heart for them, but I’ve still never owned one haha. Although I probably wouldn’t wear it myself, I love the bandana choker look. (I’m kinda claustrophobic around my neck.) It’s so classic/vintage/retro? 😀 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I love this trend, though I haven’t tried it out personally yet. My favorite pairing is a red bandana with a white off the shoulder top – both are so in right now!

You are gorgeous! I love your chic and laidback styling with this look. That bandana choker is a dope and inventive way to accessorize with what you have!

I love the stretchy necklaces from the 90s. They’re so chic but they break easily. You can’t go wrong with a bandana though. :]
