Makeup Essentials On The Go

This upcoming trip to Portland is shaping up to be a challenging one. Why you ask? Well, because we’re only taking carry-ons… that means essentials only! Of course I’m saving most of the bag space for clothing, so I’m only bringing the makeup essentials.

In my mini makeup bag, I’m packing my favorites. As a base, the Bare Minerals Tinted Moisturizing Gel is what I use most days of the year. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you already know that the Benefit Roller Lash is my absolute favorite mascara. If not, well now you know! My NYX Micro Brow pencil is a multitasking tool that I can’t live without. I even smudge it on my lower lash line sometimes for a more natural smokey look! Of course, I can’t go anywhere without the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. It’s the absolute best!

Whether I’m traveling light(ish) or not not, I always prefer taking palettes with me. I love palettes like that combine more than one product in a single pan, like this Urban Decay Naked Flushed. With a bronzer, highlighter and blush in one palette, it’s compact way to carry multiple products.

Same goes for the eyes… This compact Tarte Tartelette Tease palette has great shadows for a natural look during the day or more dramatic one at night. It’s small, versatile and the shadows are top notch!

To save space and take even more products, I always like to get my hands on mini makeup products, like these Kat Von D Lolitta II lipstick & Tattoo Liner and the Hourgless Ambiant Lighting powder. Aren’t they the cutest?! A Beauty Blender is essential. It replaces many brushes and did you know that you can also use it to apply skin care products?… The more you know!

These are the makeup essentials that I’m taking with me on my trip to Portland. I’d love to know your essential short trip make up products.

The Urban Decay palette looks and sounds perfect as an essential! Perfect then on the go! And an eyebrow pencil is just a must, I can’t live without mine. And love the idea of using it as a natural smokey eye look, how stylish! Have to try it next time so thank you love! Xx

Girly you are like a make up guru! I seriously am in love with every piece of make up you’re bringing! I love urban decay, am a proud owner of a tarte palette. I think you packed just right!

Trying to pack light always causes me a ton of stress. Going over and over it in my head trying to narrow down to just a weekender bag. Travel sizes always do help. I think if I had to take only one make up item with me, it would be MAC eyebrow gel (otherwise my eyebrows go in every direction). I know, it is weird can’t live without item:)
These are all great items you decided on. How do you like that mascara? I’ve been thinking of trying it since I saw it on a top 10 best list recently.

    Great post! XO

These all look like such great products to add when packing light, even for everyday! I love the size of the palettes. I’ve seen a couple of reviews and tutorials using the UD one, but I haven’t gotten it, perhaps I should because it’s such a great size! Seriously, how cute is that Hourglass powder!? The size is adorable and so convenient! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, this post is incredibly helpful! I hope you’re having the best week so far!

Urban Decay can do no wrong! I have so many of their amazing Naked palettes, but still need the Flushed. Such a pretty palette <3

Having to cut down to the basics of a carry on is always eye opening to me on the products and clothes that I end up finding essential and how little I can make do with. Not surprised to see the NAKED palette makes the cut. That seems to be a very well loved palette for many

Palettes come handy when you go away, so you don’t end up packing more products than you actually need 🙂 My essentials are a face palette, lightbase product, mascara and at least two lipsticks 🙂 x

Oh you’re so good to be able to only bring a carry on. There is just no way for me to do so because I always shoot collaboration photos on vacation and need to pack all the clothes with me! Hopefully one day I’ll be more efficient with packing. Love how you’ve also narrowed down your beauty essentials to a small bag. I need to learn from you!
