Yellow is undeniably one of the hottest colors of this season. Although it’s rather tricky to pull off, it can be extremely flattering if chosen right.
The first trick to rocking this color is to pick the right shade for you. Depending on your skin tone, yellow can easily wash you out, so be careful! For those with very fair skin tones, I recommend shying away from pastel shades and opting for slightly darker hues to contrast your skin. If you’re tanned or deep skin toned than bright yellow will just pop on you!
With my Mediterranean olive skin tone, I found that a deeper yellow with mustard hues look best on me. It compliments my skin perfectly without washing me out or making me look sickly. You just have to find a shade that will contrast with your natural color and make you look lively.
If you’re feeling adventurous but not completely sold on this trend, it’s always good to start slow. Dipping your toes in the water before diving in is a great way to see if you like a fashion craze or you’d rather skip it. A cute pair of yellow earrings or maybe some mustard-y sandals can be a good first step. If you feel they suit you, why not try a cute top or maybe eye-catching pants. You can style them with neutrals or go completely bold and pair them with a perry winkle piece or even fuschia. After all, it’s the season of bold colors and gorgeous tans!
Now that I have tested my love for yellow with this top and those pants (which were both bought in Japan btw), I feel ready to go even bolder… A yellow summer dress! Why not?
How bold are you feeling this spring/summer? Are you going to be owning this trend or just testing it out?

Tamara
Yellow is my favorite color, and I’m so glad you said that about the different shades!! It’s just like any color really—there are good shades for your complexion and not so good shades!!
You look incredible in this yellow—and that white skirt is fab too!

Yellow looks great on you Tamara, I love mustard pieces but they no longer suit me with this hair colour (a pity!) – the paper bag pants are also gorgeous! Hope you are having a great week Xx
