Don’t wear white after labor day is such an old tale. We’ve been through it before, and we all agreed that it’s complete bonkers.
Whether we like it or not, white is a rather cold color (or lack of color that is). In winter especially, it can be a little tough to pull it off because it looks so icy. No matter the season though, an all white look is always very chic and elegant… Even in colder months.
The Key to pulling an all whiter in winter is pretty simple: accessorize smartly. Your shoes, handbag, and other accessories are the way to inject some warmth into this rather chilly look. Choose gold jewelry over silver, as gold is warmer. Rose gold or copper are also a great option.
As for your shoes and bag, deep earthy tones are a great way to balance the look. Burgundy will forever be a favorite color in the colder months. It’s grungy enough for the cold but also on the warm spectrum. Against an all white outfit, burgundy will pop and will make the look more winter appropriate.
Nothing really screams warmth and coziness like a chunky scarf. It immediately makes you look so snug even if you’re actually freezing. This season, oversized overly chunky scarf have been having a moment. So pick up one and wrap it around yourself and immediately see the difference it makes. It’s all an optical illusion at first, but within a few minutes, you’ll be warm and toasty.
As the scarf will be wrapped closely against your skin, make sure to pick the right shade for you. Chose a color and undertone, that’s going to complement your skin tone and ad warmth to it. Stay away from the shades that are going to wash you out and make you look sickly. For example, if you have an olive skin tone like me, earthy colors are the way to go.
So don’t be afraid to wear all white this winter, just remember when it comes to outfits it’s all about balance.
