Every Spring & Summer, linen resurfaces in the fashion world. This year it’s a little different. Linen has become more than just a fabric, it’s a trend by itself. It has truly ruled the fashion scene this season, becoming the hottest fabric to wear. One of the oldest fabrics in history is today’s hottest style.
The reason why linen is a Summer fabric, rather than Winter, is because it’s one of the most cooling, airy and breathable fabrics there are. It is also cool to the touch. So it’s the ideal fabric for those hot Summer days because it helps the air flow through it to keep you cool.
My love for linen didn’t really begin just this season. I’ve loved this fabric for a long, long time. There’s something rather elegant about it. Every time I wear this fabric, I imagine myself in the south of France, on a yacht, sipping rose ( a girl can dream, ok?). Although it’s an inexpensive material, it really makes the simplest looks elegant and chic, with an effortless touch. From tops, to dress to pants, it’s an extremely versatile fabric that you should add to your summer wardrobe.
Although it comes in all shades and colors, my favorite way to wear linen is in it’s original, oatmeal kind of color. I love it when it’s in its raw format, it just makes it a little extra chic in my opinion. Although it’s very creasable, personally I don’t bother with it. The creases come with the linen look in my opinion. They just make it more authentic. So don’t bother about not being perfect all the time. The longer you wear it, the more it creases, and that’s just fine.
