Each season new trends emerge, some are good and some are bad. With this new era of fast fashion and social media, it seems that if you’re not immediately hopping on the latest trends regardless how you feel about them, you’re becoming boring and so last season. That’s especially true for fashion bloggers, like me. Although I’m widening my fashion and style horizon by pushing my own boundaries, there are certain trends that I’m simply not so keen about.
This season, there are a few trends I’m definitely skipping. The first is the clear plastic/vinyl trend, especially in shoes. The clear shoe trend has been blowing up on social media for a while now and nowadays we can see it in stores like Zara, Nordstrom and more. Personally, I don’t see the appeal of it. When trying on one pair just for fun I immediately regretted it. See, when your foot gets warm from walking in around, it causes condensation in the shoes and fogs it up… And that’s not cute. I can accept in sandals or in shoes where it is just accented but other than that it’s a big no to me!
Another shoe trend I’m saying no to is cowboy boots. I know a lot of people really like them, but I honestly don’t, especially on me. Again they don’t really fit my style or personality and I just feel awkward wearing them. Unless I was visiting Austin, Texas, I won’t be buying a pair anytime soon.
One more recent trend that we have started seeing just a few weeks ago, is neon shades, especially neon yellow and green. You know that colors aren’t really my thing, especially bright shades. Although I wear occasional reds, pinks, and yellows, I can’t really see myself pulling off a neon green turtleneck anytime soon. It just doesn’t fit my style and personality.
I’m not saying that these trends aren’t good, I’m just saying that they’re not good for me… And there’s nothing wrong with that. If you fancy them, go ahead and rock them, but don’t feel pressured to be untrue to your style and feel uncomfortable just so you can follow the latest trends. What are the trends you’re skipping this season? Let me know!
