I know I know, I’ve been a little M.I.A on here recently. My Christmas break stretched out a little more than planned, but I have been taking this time to plan ahead for 2019. A lot of exciting things are coming this year: new series on the blog, fun collabs and much more. Also, I’ve been focusing on my Youtube channel, which is growing faster and faster by the day. If you’re interested in more fashion content make sure you follow me there too.
But for today, as I sit in bed sick with a cold (not a great way to start the year, but it can be much worse), I want to write down and share with you my goals and plans for this year.
I always find resolutions such a cliche and less impactful word than GOALS. With resolutions, it’s like they’re aspirations or hopes. That if and when we break them it’s almost expected and OK. But when we (or maybe just me) name them instead goals, I push myself harder to reach them. I work throughout the year to get where I want to be. So that’s why I’m calling them my 2019 goals.
If you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve seen me share with you on NYE a reflection of 2018. It wasn’t a good year, to be honest for me personally, but at the same time, it wasn’t bad either. It was a meh kind of year. Unmemorable except for mocing to Toronto. It felt like I was in limbo most of it. Not many highs but not many lows either in 2018. But nonetheless, I made the effort to create and share with you on my Instagram stories my highlights. Those weren’t filled with me traveling the world or going on incredible adventures, instead, they were everyday moments that we take for granted. So for 2019, I made a highlighted folder on Insta where I will be sharing and saving in it things I’m grateful for. They can be small or big. The first saved post is of a beautiful sunrise, because how many of us take a new day for granted? So I urge you to create a highlighted folder somewhere, on Instagram, desktop or even phone and save these moments that spark joy in you throughout the year. In the end, you’ll have so many moments to look back to and be grateful for.
Staying in the Instagram world, I will be working with multiple photographers this year so I can bring a new perspective to my posts. And I’m really excited about that. Although Rob will always be my favorite photographer, I can’t take up too much time out of his busy days for all the ideas I have for 2019. So hopefully, my content will feel fresh in this new year.
As for the blog, I really want to take this blog to the next level. I’m thinking of a little facelift for the layout, just to freshen things up a little. What do you think?
As I said earlier, I will be introducing a few new series such as Friday Favorite, Coffee Talks and more. Additionally, my amazing husband Rob agreed to write a monthly “column” on the blog too! He will be talking about business, life, as well as other various topics. Let us know what you’d like him to write about!
Also, I’m getting more and more aware of the impact of fast fashion on us, our bank accounts and the environment. So this year, I want to make a conscious effort to shop when I need to and what I need. It’s a little harder for me as a fashion blogger & Youtuber as I have to be on top of the latest trends to be able to share them with you, but gone are the days of me buying items just so they can sit in my wardrobe, with their tags to never be worn. As I’m getting older, I’m really focusing on less is more and quality over quality. I’m investing in my wardrobe with a few key pieces of designer items that I’ll be sharing soon in a video. I will be talking more of how to mix high an low end to create a timeless wardrobe. If you haven’t checked out my posts about how to afford luxury items, make sure to read it here.
One of my main goals this year is to also write for an online publication. Somethings are in the works, I’ll keep you all posted!
Also, travel content will be back this year. I didn’t travel much in 2018, but this year we already have plans for a few exciting trips, which I will be sharing with you in posts and vlogs. I’m looking forward to discovering new places and also to go back home and see my family.
As for health, I’m really happy with my “diet” in the last few years. I don’t follow any specific diets really. I’m Mediterranean so I grew up eating lots of veggies, fruits and good for you food in general. I still eat a very Mediterranean diet, with lots of veggies and fruits an olive oil. We cook a lot at home and rarely eat fried food. Also, in the last year, I really cut down on my processed food intake and added sugar which made me and my skin feel great.
When it comes to exercise, I have been slacking a little the last couple of months but I definitely want to go back to working out 2-3 times a week (that’s what works best for me) to get stronger and more toned. I’m not looking to lose or gain weight, I just want to have a stronger body.
Sorry it was long post, but I feel like there’s so much I want to share with you about my goals, but I’ll cut it here for now. What are your goals in 2019?Let me know!
